Uganda: Improving Water, Household Sanitation and Positive Hygiene Standards in Western Uganda

Ryan’s Well continues its work with RWIDF, a strong partner who we have worked with since 2003. A total of 231 water projects focused on long term sustainability have been completed since then, providing potable water to schools and villages throughout Western Uganda. RWIDF is a community-based women’s organization with a mandate to enhance the skills, livelihoods and well-being of women and youth.

This year, with your support, we will complete 28 Water projects, mobilize 28 communities, and train community members in maintenance and repair of all site locations. The project will provide approximately 7,895 people with access to potable water.

What will the funds raised support:

• The mobilization of 28 communities in project management
• Construction of 27 protected Springs
• Construction of one 30,000 Litre Rainwater Harvesting Tank
• Concentrated WASH Training for all communities and school populations
• Ongoing local monitoring and evaluation

RWIDF involves each community from the beginning in all projects components, including: site location, committee organization, maintenance and repairs of the water source. This ensures community ownership of the project, and contributes to the self-sustainability of vulnerable populations.

Every effort is made to designate your funds as requested; however, if the specified project has become fully funded or unforeseen circumstances delay its start, we may allocate your donation to another important project
