The Long Flight In

Airports and I have never gotten along. Sometimes I feel as though planes with mechanical difficulties or six hour late departures gravitate towards me…not good when your destination is half way around the World and you have a full schedule!  This time has been no different; we had to transfer through Paris in the midst of an air traffic controller strike which wasn’t a promising start.

BurkinaIn the midst of all of the hassle, confusion, and frustration though, I had to remind myself that sometimes there are problems that you don’t have any power over. Instead, what you have to do is focus on what you do have power over.

If I had stuck to my original plan of saving seventy dollars for one well, Ryan’s Well Foundation would have never become a reality.  Like many things in life, this is living proof that when you regroup and adapt, good things can happen.

It is with this type of positive thinking that we finally make it to Burkina Faso, West Africa.  What brings us to this part of the continent you ask? Last year, we were able do projects at multiple schools, rural villages and even an orphanage. By revisiting our projects, we are ensuring that everything is still running smoothly and that everything is still in working order. We are heading out tomorrow to meet all of the beneficiaries and see the impact of our work. Very exciting!

Check back later this week for more of my adventures in Burkina Faso!

Until then,

Ryan Signature
