While you’re working hard to raise funds, our partner in Ghana, DONA, is working hard to construct two deep wells for this year’s School Challenge project, which will bring clean water to more than 870 students and teachers at two schools!

Construction is underway, and we can’t wait to send you all of the updates as they happen, so that you can see the positive impact your work and generosity is having on others.

First School Challenge Update

While the wells for Atobiase Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High School and Adansi Apagya District Assembly Basic and Junior High School are already under construction, DONA has begun training sessions for the two schools. These training sessions teach good health and hygiene practices, such as handwashing with soap and proper food preparation (so they don’t get sick from unclean food), and provide information about how dirty water affects their health. This year, they’ve also included lessons about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These workshops were so helpful, that the students and teachers even asked if they could have MORE sessions like this, to remind them of what they have learned!

These sessions also allow the communities to find and teach a mechanic how to fix the wells, if something on them should break. This means that the schools (and the communities around them) can have clean water for generations, and don’t need to rely on outside help to fix their well!
