Partners and Progress: Burkina Faso

Twelve years ago I spoke about my fundraising efforts on CBC radio, just after the Ryan’s Well Foundation was officially established.  Being a shy guy, I was always incredibly nervous to speak to the media. As shy as I was though, I knew it was the best way to communicate with the public and let them know about what I was trying to accomplish—access to clean water for everyone. Luckily, one person who happened to be listening to that interview was Ron Little, CEO of Orezone Gold. Orezone Gold is a mining company that operates out of Burkina Faso, and Ron was looking to do some good for an area that he personally knew needed help. We met up at the local Tim Horton’s and Orezone Gold has been an extremely generous partner ever since! Thanks Ron!

Ryan and Ron

Fast forward twelve years, and we are still partners. We have been able to do great work throughout the country of Burkina Faso, but although we have been able to change a lot here, we also know there is still much more work to be done.  In the upcoming year, Ron and I are hoping to complete five more wells to further our impact. If there was ever a country to help you realize how lucky we are to have access to clean water, it is the dry country of Burkina Faso.

Talk soon,
