Seasonal Giving Project: water and proper sanitation, Adwir Health Centre, Uganda

Imagine you’re about to deliver your first baby. You arrive at the local health clinic. There’s no water, no toilets, no place to bathe in privacy. If you’re lucky, there may be a midwife to help you, but should complications arise there are no doctors nearby.

Adwir Health Centre II, in Alebtong district, northern Uganda, is such a place.

But with your help, expectant mothers in this area will soon have a safe environment to deliver their babies. And the status of the health centre will be upgraded, meaning more doctors and nurses will be hired to help the people in the surrounding communities seeking help from the Adwir Health Centre each and every day.

Your holiday gift will help provide:

  • One deep bore hole well
  • One block of VIP drainable latrines with five stances
  • One permanent handwashing station
  • WASH training for clinic staff and the surrounding community
  • Ongoing local monitoring
  • The training of five local pump mechanics

What an incredible gift you can bring this holiday season – safely helping newborn babies into the world, and paving the way for better healthcare for everyone who comes to the Adwir Health Centre.

*Costs include: water quality monitoring, hygiene education activities, water source committee training, project monitoring, reporting & partner coordination for WASH sustainability, all construction, drilling, materials & labour as req’d.
