In the mountainous areas of the East and West districts of Amansie, Ghana, there are five communities in desperate need of safe and potable water. Long-time Ryan’s Well partner DONA (Dawn of the New Age) has been working for many years within this area. Together, Ryan’s Well and DONA continue to work on sites identified by local government where needs are greatest. That being said, Akajasu, Daban, Oseinkwanta, Sikafreho and Abosiebo have been on a lengthy waiting list for years with the local government, requesting to have wells built within their communities.  By donating to this cause, you will help these communities receive the clean water they need to survive.

In the initial stages of building,

  • Communities will be trained in project management
  • Water committees will be formed
  • WASH training will be delivered
  • Pump mechanics will be trained alongside community members to ensure that the investment being made lasts long into the future

Ultimately, five wells will be built for each of the five communities.

During monitoring work done in January of 2016, communities that previously received wells came out in droves to show their appreciation for all of the work and training that was delivered by DONA Trainers. Good work takes time, and good planning results in even better results. DONA spends a considerable amount of time preparing communities in taking full responsibility of all project work.
