In the province of Kouritenga, in Eastern Burkina Faso, there are four schools that need help. The School of Tibin, Nursery School of Koupéla, Gateway School of Kiinga, and the School of Dimistenga are each in need of a well. Without access to clean water, students must miss hours of school time to walk many kilometers a day just to get clean water for their families.  Missed school hours accumulate, making it extremely difficult for students to stay on track with schoolwork, which means that they may have to drop out of school entirely.

What can you do to help?

By joining in the school challenge, you can help Ryan’s Well and our partner in Burkina Faso, Ocades Caritas, provide these four schools with four deep bore hole wells, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) training. This will ensure that, not only the 645 students of these four schools, but also their surrounding communities, will have easy access to clean water and WASH education. This well will also allow the students to grow communal vegetable gardens, giving them valuable skills, and helping to feed themselves, their families and their communities.

What will the funds raised support?

  • 4 deep bore hole wells at 4 schools
  • WASH training
  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation
  • Mobilization of community and school water committees
