Youth in Action Program is a creative and innovative program designed to educate students about the importance of clean water for all and encourage them to become active, responsible citizens of the world. The Youth in Action Program resource brings attention to local, national and international issues related to water, sanitation and activism.
Program material supports various elementary and secondary curriculum expectations with links to an array of disciplines such as Language, Math, Health, Social Studies, English, the Arts, Science and Technology, Canadian and World Studies, Geography, Guidance and Career Education.
The key theme of Youth in Action is to encourage students to find where their 'puzzle' piece fits in this world and to take action. Students will be exposed to Canadian examples of youth and organizations making a difference. They will be encouraged to realize their global responsibilities in their own communities and abroad.
The Objectives of the Youth in Action Program are to:
Stimulate students to explore avenues, such as the voluntary sector and the field of international development, as a global citizen
Create new youth ambassadors educated on the importance of clean water and global responsibility
Renovate existing ideas, thoughts and understanding on what it means to be Canadian in relation to developing countries
Educate students on Canadian organizations involved in international development work
Advocate positive change through examples of active youth and by exploring various voluntary opportunities
Motivate students to take action in their own communities and abroad
LET YOUR STUDENTS' VOICES BE HEARD!
Whether you are a student or educator, you can learn valuable information from the Youth in Action resource. Share it with your family, friends, colleagues, faith-based community and be an agent for positive change and ACTION in the world.
